Close to the ski slopes, in the heart of the hamlet of Serre Barbin in the Serre-Chevalier valley, this magnificent traditional larch-wood chalet, entirely handcrafted by master craftsmen, offers an ideal retreat for large families or getaways with friends.
Perched at over 1,500 metres above sea level, it is just 5 minutes from the slopes of La Salle-les-Alpes and only half an hour from La Grave for thrill-seekers.
Chalet l’Harmonie is an authentic family chalet featuring 7 bedrooms (including one triple room and one mezzanine bedroom), for a total of 15 beds and 6 bathrooms.
Nestled away from prying eyes, l’Harmonie boasts a large garden, terraces, and unobstructed mountain views.
Inside, everything has been designed to create meaningful moments together:
- a spacious central living room with a fireplace,
- a large dining table for sharing comforting meals,
- a fully equipped large kitchen (La Cornue® range) with a pantry,
- a TV lounge equipped with a Bose® sound system,
- a library featuring an extensive collection of hardback and paperback books covering art, literature, history, and regional heritage,
- a billiards table, table football, and board games for both children and adults,
- a superb Kawai® piano that once belonged to the former owner of the chalet (a renowned French singer-songwriter),
- a sauna and massage room to unwind after days of skiing or hiking.
This large mountain chalet with generous volumes exudes an intimate, cocoon-like atmosphere where it feels good to retreat. Carefully selected furniture from renowned Parisian antique dealers and noble materials pay tribute to Alpine charm. Mountain hospitality can be felt in every corner of the house: by the fireplace at the heart of the living area, in the timeless club chairs of the library, around the large family table, or in one of the warm and cosy bedrooms.

The History of the PlaceThrough the Centuries
Built in the late 1990s, Chalet L’Harmonie stands apart in the architectural history of Serre-Chevalier. Designed by the Bayrou architects—master craftsmen emblematic of the valley—it is considered “the last handmade chalet” from their workshop, a rare creation where every beam and wooden joint was crafted using traditional methods, without any modern prefabrication.
“At the time, we wanted to restore all the nobility of larch, our local wood. Every frame was drawn by hand, every board laid one by one. Chalet L’Harmonie is a refined chalet, in the truest sense of the word: a place where wood, light, and mountain interact with natural harmony,” explains Jean-Noël Mocquot, carpenter and longtime member of the Bayrou firm behind the project.
A symbol of a vanishing Alpine craftsmanship, Chalet L’Harmonie embodies a living heritage: that of exposed timber frames, raw larch wood, and materials left in their most authentic form.
